Rosa Parks

The photo, from Library of Congress, shows Rosa Parks being arrested in 1956 (so says LOC's caption -- but shouldn't that be 1955?). She later came to deny the story that her refusal to give up a bus seat, which changed history, was because her feet were tired. In fact, it was consistent with a lifetime of activism. Remembering her, Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick said, "She stood up by sitting down. I’m only standing here because of her."

Totally irrelevant to Rosa Parks' great cntribution to the Civil Liberties of Black Americns, but I had no idea she was so pretty!
